Responsible Stewardship

As members, we adhere to all seven standards of responsible stewardship as defined by the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability including:

  1. We subscribe to a written statement of faith clearly affirming our commitment to the Evangelical Christian faith and shall conduct our financial and other operations in a manner which reflects those generally accepted biblical truths and practices.
  2. We have a responsible board of directors of not less than five individuals, a majority of whom are independent, which meets at least semiannually to establish policy and review our accomplishments, and which governs every member organization. The board or a committee consisting of a majority of independent members reviews the annual audit and maintains direct communication between the board and the independent certified public accountants.
  3. We obtain an annual audit performed by an independent certified public accounting firm in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAS). Our financial statements are prepared in accordance with accounting principles accepted in the United States of America (GAAP).
  4. We exercise the management and financial controls necessary to provide reasonable assurance that all resources are used (nationally and internationally) in conformity with applicable federal and state laws and regulations to accomplish the exempt purposes for which they are intended.
  5. We provide a copy of our current audited financial statements upon written request and provide other disclosures as the law may require. We provide a report, on request, including financial information, on the specific project for which we are soliciting gifts.
  6. We avoid conflicts of interest.
  7. We comply with each of the ECFA Standards for fundraising.

Evaluation
We have established a detailed evaluation process that our project managers provide on a regular basis. Evaluation criteria is prearranged and measured against how effectively we deliver on our mission and make a distinctive impact, relative to our resources.
