One day they were discussing in front of me if they should help a very poor neighbor. I interrupt their discussion and I said that it is important to help the people in need. Jesus says so and I started to tell them stories that I had learned in Sunday school. They were silent but paid attention to what I was saying. They have helped our neighbor. I don’t know what happened but they never stopped me from going to the Sunday school ever since.”

Our Youth Bible Curriculum project in Albania is a team effort that has brought together the talents and resources from the ministries of Gospel Light Worldwide, World Vision International, the Albanian Orthodox Church and the Evangelical Church of Albania. The project has focused on the provision of Christ-centered teaching materials for children in Albania, along with the training and equipping of teachers and religious leaders.

Albania is home to a rich blend of cultures and religions. While the former Marxist ruler stated that he had totally eliminated all religion in 1967, now a majority of the population claim a faith in God. The Albanian Orthodox Church also enjoys a presence and is seeking to convey Christian spiritual truths to the next generation. Early religious instruction for children has proven to be one of the most powerful predictors of a lifelong Christian faith.
