Fine-Tuning | Gospel Light Worldwide Style

Over the past few years, we became very serious about seeking and implementing small changes to cause disproportionally larger results. Consequently, we found and adopted a simple yet serious management tool; the One-Page Plan. A one-page limit forced us to concentrate on the essentials and think clearly through the issues.
There are three main parts to every good one-page plan. They are mission, objectives and strategies. Our mission statement is the “why” and the first step in our planning. The second step is to establish our objectives or the “what we are seeking to accomplish.” The third step are the strategies or the “how” to achieve each objective.
Using this approach, here is our Five Year Plan Rolling Ministry for 2009 – 2013 and fully expect to fine-tune it again as we continue to learn.
Here is our plan as it stands today:
Mission
To know Christ and make Him known
through Bible-based, culturally relevant teaching resources, books and curriculum worldwide
Objectives
- Preserve our core and simultaneously adapt to changing world
- Help One Million Children to enter and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in every major project area we serve
- Shape a strong, self-sustaining organization that can prosper beyond any leader, great idea, market cycle or well funded program
Strategies
Preserve our core and simultaneously adapt to changing world
- Deliver consistently on mission, making a distinctive impact with enduring results
- Focus on the children; not the materials
- Innovate around central practices, programs and processes
Help One Million Children to enter and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in every major project area we serve
- Seek and follow the Lord’s lead
- Join with other international and resident ministry partners that could benefit greatly from working together
- Concentrate on impact and measure progress against results or larger systemic change
Shape a strong, self-sustaining organization that can prosper beyond any leader, great idea, market cycle or well funded program
- Invest in the basics: people, funding and systems
- Develop board, cultivate evangelists and expand our community of supporters
- Rightsize internal staff to fulfill mission and outsource everything else for maximum effectiveness, sustainability and flexibility
