China: Most Recent Update
By info on Apr 30, 2009 in China, Updates
More and more churches throughout China are seeing the need to develop a children’s ministry. For decades, it was too risky for churches to hold children’s meetings of any kind, primarily because it is difficult to keep Sunday School services quiet. Although religious education is still technically not allowed for young people under 18, churches in many areas have been able to successfully hold weekly Sunday Schools.
Our curriculum project is helping to meet the huge need for quality materials. Presently we have curriculum for ages 6-8 translated. Over 10,000 books have been distributed. We continue to receive orders in the tens of thousands for these books, but at this time we are not able to fill all the requests.
Our team is also receiving many unsolicited requests for training since it is difficult for local groups to start a children’s ministry when they have never seen it modeled. We have been able to increase their effectiveness by working with other organizations that can deliver this training.
This past month we partnered with three groups in different provinces and were able to provide them with curriculum to accompany their intensive teacher training courses. Our hope is that we can implement new Sunday Schools and touch the lives of young people for eternity.
If you have a heart for China, please consider praying about becoming a financial partner with us and helping us reach more children through God’s Word.
