New International Ministry Coordinator Named

Gospel Light Worldwide (GLW) announced the appointment of Robert Varnay as International Ministry Coordinator. GLW provides culturally relevant, life changing children’s Bible curriculum and teaching resources to needy Christian communities around the world.
“Robert’s appointment signals our continuing commitment to respond aggressively to the growing needs of children’s ministry in the international Christian community,” said GLW president Marc Stein. “80 percent of all new believers worldwide are younger than 15 years, yet fewer than 20 percent of the resources donated to global missions go to children. We believe Robert can help us change that.”
Varnay served as a research analyst for Geneva Global for the past four years, providing funding recommendations for major donors (including for GLW) on charitable and development organizations around the world. In his new role, Varnay will have two complementary responsibilities: Understanding, assessing and coordinating GLW children’s ministry programs worldwide and matching them with compatible financial partners.
Outside the United States, there is a serious lack of children’s Bible teaching materials and teacher training available. Local pastors, evangelists and church planters from developing world churches are reaching out for help. As a result, children are rapidly emerging as one of the leading international ministry priorities.
“More than once when I asked ministry leaders if I could send them a care package from the States upon my return home, included on their list was Sunday School curriculum and Christian books. I have learned that many churches across the continents lack biblically based materials to introduce their children to Jesus Christ. At the same time we know that it is from their children that parents many times first hear of the Gospel. It is a privilege to be participating in this exciting and strategic kingdom venture,” says Varnay.
Varnay’s other multicultural experiences included working as an activities coordinator for international students at Drexel University in Philadelphia, teaching English at a high school in Hungary and working as a translator, specializing in Hungarian, German and Spanish.
GLW is the not-for-profit 501(c)(3) sister ministry to Gospel Light and Regal Books based in Ventura, California. Today, GLW runs 16 major children’s ministry projects in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union and the Middle East.
